Copyright policy & takedown requests
Our approach
- All text on this site is written originally by us. We summarise findings in our own words and link to the original papers and pages rather than reproducing them.
- Quotations, where used at all, are short, attributed and only included when the exact wording matters.
- We do not host third-party figures or images. If we add images, they will be public-domain U.S. government works (for example NASA or NOAA material produced by government staff, not third-party images hosted on their sites) or openly licensed (for example Creative Commons) works with the required attribution, listed on the credits page.
- Live data panels show public NOAA SWPC and NASA CCMC data with attribution on every panel.
- Names of organisations, publications and products are used only to identify them. This does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them.
Reporting copyright infringement
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, please email our copyright contact at solarevidence@proton.me with:
- your name and contact details (postal address, phone and email);
- a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
- the exact URL(s) on this site where the material appears;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We aim to acknowledge notices promptly, remove or disable access to material that appears to infringe, and tell the person who supplied it where applicable.
Counter-notices
If material you supplied was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. Include your contact details, the URL that was removed, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake, consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court, and your signature.
Corrections are different
If your concern is accuracy rather than copyright, for example a misstated finding or a status label you disagree with, see the corrections policy on the About page.
